Aeromet has announced that expert metallurgist and aerospace engineer Dr Simon Butler has strengthened the company’s A20X™ Advanced Material Technology team.

Simon started his career at Aeromet and was key to the initial development of A20X™ – his PhD formed the basis of the MMPDS approved A205 alloy and subsequent patents.  He has held senior technical leadership positions in aerospace, automotive and powder metallurgy. Before re-joining Aeromet, Simon was Head of the world-renowned Advanced Metal Casting Centre, BCAST, Brunel University, London.

The appointment comes at an exciting time as market adoption of the A20X™ alloy for casting and powder for additive manufacturing continues to grow significantly year-on-year.

A20X™ is an aluminium alloy designed and patented by Aeromet. It is the world’s strongest aluminium casting alloy and is a high strength aluminium alloy powder for use in additive manufacture.
